August Games

1) GAME:  American Civil War
HOST:  Terry Sawchenko
SCALE:  15mm
RULES: Stars N Bars
PLAYERS: Up to 6
SCENARIO:  The taking of Harrison’s Ford.     
The battle of Gettysburg had been fought a few days previously.  General Lee and the army of Richmond are now limping out of Pennsylvania.  One of the routes lead to the Ford at Harrison.  In an effort to contain the Southern army Maj. Gen Dan Sickle’s much reduced Third Corps has been ordered to Harrison.  The leading elements of the 2nd Division are about to come into contact with the Fords garrison.  In advance of the Army of Virginia the leading brigade of John Bell Hoods division is not far away.  The tired and footsore soldiers are about to play out one of the many unrecorded smaller actions of the Civil War.    

2) GAME: Tabletop Games Lending Library

SCENARIO: We will be making available Board & Card Games for use on Game Nights. Currently this consists of games from Drew’s collection (listed below), but members are more than welcome to offer their own games, and donations of games to the club are welcome. Not all games will be brought out any given night, but if you want to be certain of a game being there, contact Drew at:          president@trumpetersociety.com

3) GAME: Sci-fi ground combat (armour, apc's, infantry, aircraft, vtol's)

RULES: Dirtside II
PLAYERS: minimum of 2, can easily handle 6
SCENARIO:  The high tech Eastern Bloc has become alarmed at the appearance of major upgrades to a frontier airstrip by the perfidious Western Coalition. The High Council has decided that a raid in force upon this provocative airbase before it becomes fully functional is a proper, measured response. The planned raid has been pushed ahead as reports of the creation of a firebase in the area has been recently learned.  Unknown to East Bloc intelligence Western Coalition Force Command has pushed a rapid response force into the area unfortunately they are a Line force with second line equipment. Who will earn bragging rights in this game of military brinkmanship?  

4) GAME: WAR OF 1812

SCALE: 18mm, one figure equals 20 men
RULES: Homebrew (Variation on Daimyo)
PLAYERS: 2-4
SCENARIO: Paybacks a b...h! (Fictional Scenerio) It's 1814, Napoleon is on his way to Elba and the British forces in Canada have been recieving much needed reinforcements!  Now it's the Americans turn to have thier soil stepped on by the boots of the invader as the counter attack begins! Fortunetly for the Americans the hard campaigning of the last couple of years have forged an army that can fight the British at more or less equal terms at last.  Featuring the freshly painted 50 figure Swiss Regiment De Mueron and I swear if they don't get into action this time I'll decimate the regiment Roman style!  

5) GAME: Board Game: Railways in the Fourth Age - 18xx in Middle Earth

SCALE: N/A
RULES: 1870 with modifications
PLAYERS: 1-6
SCENARIO: Richard Dutton has taken 1870 and transported the game system to the Middle Earth in the Fourth Age after the War of the Ring.  

6) GAME: Warhammer 40K
HOST:  James Chen and/or Linton Harrison
SCALE:  28mm
RULES: 40k
PLAYERS: All are welcome!
SCENARIO:  1500 point games tonight - bring your army down and we'll set up some games.  If you're headed to Astro this weekend come on down and practice!
